No heat. No hot water.
Pressure dropping.
A flat-fee diagnostic visit to find the fault properly — with a minor repair carried out on the spot where viable. No meter running. No vague quotes.
Find the fault. Fix what's fixable. Quote the rest in writing.
When you book a diagnostic visit, I attend at a booked time, identify the fault using flue gas analysis, pressure and electrical testing, and carry out a minor repair on the spot if the fault can be resolved there and then. That's all included in the £140.
If the repair needs parts I don't carry, deeper investigation, or manufacturer involvement, I'll explain what's happened, what the options are, and give you a clear written quote before anything further is done.
No pressure. No surprises. You decide what happens next.
The £140 diagnostic visit, in plain English.
Included in the £140
- Attendance at a booked time
- Full fault diagnosis (flue gas analysis, pressure and electrical testing)
- Minor repair on the visit where viable — resetting controls, bleeding and repressurising, replacing simple components I carry on the van
- Clear explanation of what's wrong
- Written quote for any further work
Not included
- Replacement parts beyond simple consumables
- Major repairs requiring extended labour or a return visit
- Manufacturer warranty repairs (I'll help log these with Vaillant or Glow-worm)
- Power flushing or system cleaning — separate service
- Out-of-hours rates (available, quoted separately)
An honest note on diagnosis. Boilers are complex. Sometimes the fault is obvious and fixed in twenty minutes. Sometimes a diagnostic visit reveals a deeper issue — a failed component that needs ordering, a system fault that needs more investigation, or a warranty case that needs Vaillant or Glow-worm involved. A diagnostic visit always tells you what's wrong and what it'll cost to fix. It doesn't always mean the boiler will be running again the same day. That's the honest version.
One number. No clock-watching.
Includes attendance, full fault diagnosis, and any minor repair that can be carried out on the visit. Parts and major repairs quoted clearly before any further work.
| Repair work after diagnosis | Quoted in writing |
| Replacement parts | At cost |
| Out-of-hours / weekend | On request |
| Return visits (parts ordering) | Included in the repair quote |

Send a WhatsApp or call. I'll ask a couple of quick questions to gauge urgency.

I arrive at a booked time, in uniform, with shoe covers and dust sheets.
Diagnose
Full fault-finding. Minor repairs done on the spot where viable.
Quote & agree
If more work is needed, you get a written quote. Nothing happens without your approval.
Things people ask before booking.
Will you fix it the same day?
Often, yes. Always honestly — if a part isn't on my van and needs ordering, you'll know within the first hour of me arriving, along with a clear quote and timeframe.
What if the fault can't be diagnosed in one visit?
Rare, but it happens with intermittent faults. I'll explain exactly what's needed and any further work is agreed in writing first. You're never charged for work you haven't approved.
My boiler is under warranty — should I call you or the manufacturer?
Call the manufacturer first. If they can't book you in quickly, or you'd like a second opinion, I can attend, diagnose, and help you log the warranty claim properly.
Do you charge a call-out fee on top of the diagnostic?
No. £140 is the full attendance fee. Anything beyond diagnosis and minor repair is quoted clearly before I do it.
Which boilers do you work on?
All major UK brands. I'm a member of Vaillant Advance and the Glow-worm Energy Club, so I have direct technical and warranty support for those manufacturers in particular.
Do I need to be home for the visit?
Yes — for a diagnostic, I need access to the boiler and to talk you through what I find. For larger jobs, an arrangement can sometimes be made; ask when booking.
Ready when you are.
WhatsApp is fastest. Describe what's happening — error code if you have one — and I'll reply within the hour during working hours.
